How does it work?

Microneedling uses tiny needles that are set within a pen shaped device. The technology aims to create a precise injury to the the skin’s surface, inducing the body to respond by forming new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers. The skin plumps and thickens in response to this stimulus and the channels made from the microneedles allow topical serums to be absorbed more effectively through the top layer of skin.

What can i expect during treatment?

Microneedling is an in-office treatment that does not require general anesthesia. First, the skin is cleansed and treated with a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort. The procedure takes 20-30 minutes, depending on the area treated. Some pressure sensations might be felt however these will not be painful.

What are the results?

Recovery depends on the length of the needle used. The skin will be red for 24-48 hours, similar to a sunburn. The skin may also feel flushed, tight and itchy for the first 24 hours. It can take between 6-8 weeks before visible signs of skin regeneration are seen and the process will continue to evolve over time. Although a single treatment can provide a noticeable result, a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart, is recommended to achieve optimal results.

Is it safe?

Microneedling is safe. There is no risk of scarring or permanent color changes.
